4 tips to help you stick with meal plannning

We all know that planning our meals is something that we should do more often, but many of us also realise that meal planning and prep aren’t always the easiest things to stay on top of. This can lead to wasting food, not trying new things and simply relying on quick meals, and although it can be a real treat to order an online takeaway from time to time, balance is the key to a healthy lifestyle.   Want to try and go the distance? Here are four tips to help you to stick with meal planning.

One easy way to fix this is to try out meal planning. Not only does it show you how you can best use the food you buy, but it can also help you try new things.

SET A GOAL

Whilst it is excellent to try meal planning, for any reason, the main thing that can help you to stay focused and on track is to have a goal in mind. You can set this yourself at the start of your process. Think about why you want to try meal planning. Is it to try new things, it is to be healthy, or maybe it is to cut down on packet meals? When you have a goal in mind, you can focus on it.

CREATE A SPREADSHEET

Making a spreadsheet might not sound like fun, but it is an essential part of meal planning. It allows you to work out what you do and don’t have and the meals you have already made. It is easy to update, real-time, and a document that you and your family can use and update.

HAVE A SHOPPING LIST

It is easier than you think to get distracted at the supermarket. Trying to pick up your ingredients is enough to give anyone a headache. When it comes to stress-free shopping, a meal plan comes in handy. Because you know what you want to buy and how much of it, having a shopping list is a great way to ensure you get everything you need and don’t lose it too!
