5 mistakes that slow your fitness progress

If you have a fitness plan to stick to and some goals you want to reach, you might dread spending time languishing with little progress made week after week. With some attention to the right details, this lack of progress doesn’t have to be the case. Check out these five big mistakes that can slow your fitness progress, including some of the following!

NOT RECOGNIZING YOUR DIET IS KEY

You might have heard that when it comes to losing weight, diet is 80% of the work, and exercise is 20%. However, that’s not just about losing weight. Diet fuels your exercise, and the results you see from working out will be directly tied to how you eat. Make sure you choose a diet based on your fitness goals rather than having them work against each other.

PUTTING YOURSELF AT RISK FOR INJURY

Nothing can hold you back, like injuring yourself during a workout. Stretching, warming up, cooling down, and listening to your body while working out are all crucial. If you’re doing a specific type of exercise, whether it’s a form of cardio or strength training reps, do your research. Learn about good form, common injuries, and equipment or recovery tips to help you avoid them. It’s easier to hurt yourself than you might think, but it just takes a little homework to avoid.

BOUNCING BACK TOO QUICKLY

Recovery between sessions is crucial. You need to make sure your muscles have the time to repair and grow and that you’re not putting yourself at risk of injury. However, speeding up your recovery can get you back to working out more quickly while still staying safe, such as with the best muscle recovery supplements. Don’t exercise while you’re still sore from a challenging routine, but look for ways to get back in fighting shape more quickly.

NOT STAYING MOTIVATED

You might have a burning desire to get fit now, but is that going to be true in two months, six months, or a year? You shouldn’t simply assume that you’re going to be motivated – you need to focus on staying motivated. Motivation can include trying new exercises that match your goals and setting and tracking both short-term and long-term goals so that you always have a vision of your results.

NOT GETTING ENOUGH SLEEP

Simply put, not making sure that you’re sleeping enough will throw off your routine before you have a chance to establish it. You’ll be low on energy, your metabolism will be out of whack, and you’ll be more prone to stress. Lack of energy could mean that eventually, you will hit a wall, and that is when injuries, poor nutritional choices, and boredom can happen. Get the sleep you need.
