When most people are looking to improve their lives, that’s where they fall flat. Sometimes, you might think that you have to wait until you feel ready, but that’s never the case. You can start whenever you want – including today. You just have to work out a few things – what you want, how you will do it, your nutrition, your fitness, and your mental health. And then, you’ll be able to make the changes you want! So, to help you get started, let’s take a look at how to kickstart a healthy lifestyle change!
KNOW WHAT YOU WANT
To start with, before you begin the journey, you need to make sure that you know what you want. So, this is what we’re going to work on first.
IDENTIFY THE CATALYST
The first thing you need to do here is to ensure you know what you want to change. Because when any of us wants to make changes in our lifestyles, it’s essential to understand why. When you know your why you can pick out the right steps to help you make those changes. Do you want to lose weight, have more energy, or whatever else? And why do you want to do it!
The next thing you have to do here is to ensure that you’re specific enough. Don’t just say you want to lose weight. How much weight? By when? Or that you want to get fit. How fit? What do you want to be able to do? If you can get as specific as possible with yourself, you may find that you can have a shot at going after what you want.
FOCUS ON HOW YOU FEEL
However, it’s important to ensure that you’re placing importance on feeling here. Sometimes, you just think about the things you want. But it’s much better to focus on how you want to feel energized, more alert, or happy. Because then you can chase after those feelings. Things don’t make you happy, but emotions do. So, when you aim for a sense, it feels so much more rewarding when you get it.
HOW YOU’RE GOING TO MAKE IT HAPPEN
When you know what you want to achieve, you can then work out how you’re going to make it happen; this is where the fun starts!
DO YOUR RESEARCH
Now that you have your ideal end goal, you must work out how you will get it. But, it’s not good enough to just pluck ideas out of your mind. It helps if you can research what you need to do and then go for it. Whatever your goals are, make sure that you try to read up online before you make any concrete decisions on how you get there. Real-life case studies can help you here.
When you’ve done that, the next thing that you need to be able to do is to get real with yourself. This whole process is not about trying to go after your goals that are way too big or far-fetched from your current lifestyle. Instead, you need to ensure that you’re realistic with the time scale you are working with and what you can achieve. Because then, it will help you to make things happen.
HAVE A PLAN
The final thing that you will need to do in this phase is to come up with your plan. Unless you figure out how you’re going to make this happen and create a plan, you may find that it just does not occur. So, you will want to write down your goals and your action plan for achieving them- which will make you excited and motivated to get things started!
Next up, you then need to get actions in place, starting with your nutrition. Nutrition is key to getting your body and energy levels to where you want them to be.
The first thing you need to do here is to cut down on some things you know are not the best for you. Cutting down on sugar, alcohol, gluten, or anything else you know isn’t making you feel your best. And it’s okay to do it in stages because sometimes restricting yourself or going cold turkey can feel so much harder.
But then also, you must ensure that you’re looking at the things you need to add to your life. It’s not all just about what you cut out or stop doing. Sometimes, you can feel so much better in yourself by bringing in better nutrition, and over time, you start to cut back on things in the long term. Whether it’s the right food or more water, just make sure you add more value to your diet with what you eat and drink.
But then the final thing that you might find helps you here is to deal with your portion control a lot more. Sometimes, it’s effortless for you to overeat or put too much on the plate. But your body just doesn’t need that. And so, instead, you may want to manage the amount you’re eating at each meal and add in more snacks. Portion control will help you to feel more energized.
Then we have fitness. You will find that diet is essential and contributes to a lot of your health and happiness, but fitness makes you feel good.
First up, you’re going to want to make sure that you know yourself well and that you know what exercise is right for you. PUT THE PRACTICE IN
