At this time of the year, we’re all often thinking about all of the different things we might like to get done, and that can be something that either excites or terrifies you. But it doesn’t have to be something that means significant change is coming – not unless you want. January is a time for fresh beginnings, yes. However, if you’re already struggling and worrying that you will fail, maybe the case is you’ve not set the right intentions for this month. Instead of trying to be too ambitious, you need to make sure that you enjoy the fresh start, and that it sets the pace for your year ahead. Let’s take a look at what January could mean for you.

First of all, you’re just going to want to make sure that you relax. Because trying to put too much stress on you right now is only going to stress you out. But when you choose to take more of a relaxed approach to the month, you’ll be in a better place to be able to get some things done.

Next, remember to laugh and have fun. Even if you’re setting resolutions, you don’t need to be too strict or boring. It’s a brand new year (and a new decade) so enjoy it. See your friends, do things that you love, and make sure that you remember to have fun!

And then, you are going to want to make sure that you are doing something to help yourself feel great this year. You know that you need to be healthy, but you don’t always keep on top of it. So instead of worrying about it or making it too hard, why not embrace it? You can enjoy healthy eating if you want to, you just have to take the right approach. To do that, aiming for balance is best.

The next thing that you might want to think about is working out. And not in a crazy intense way, but to get yourself in shape and feeling great. We all feel incredible when we exercise, so you must make that your focus rather than crazy weight loss goals or fad diets and have fun with it. Try yoga or Tai Chi or tennis – or something that you know will enjoy. You’ll be more likely to stick at it if you are having fun.

Perhaps the most important thing that you could do for January is to stay on track. Staying on track doesn’t have to mean sticking to any strict (or unattainable) resolutions you’ve set, but with a little mix of the tips listed above. It’s important not to put too much unnecessary pressure on yourself – change can be uncomfortable at first. Sure, if you know that you have drunk too much and you need a break, then take one. And you also might want to get in shape but go easy on yourself. See January as a start and build up from here and you’ve got this!
